Passive income, one block at a time.
How I built toward $30,000 a year in dividends, one small block at a time.
One of my goals was a steady stream of passive income through dividend investing. My first attempt had no goal, no focus, and no real approach. It went nowhere.
Things only moved when I asked a simpler question. Not how do I get rich from dividends, but how do I make this repeatable? Out came a heuristic.
5 · 12 · 5
5% yield (minimum). S$12,000 invested. S$50 a month in dividends.
This equals "One Block".
One block is not much. Fifty dollars a month will not change anyone's life. But a block is repeatable, and repeatable is everything. It simplifies the big goal of earning passive income into a concrete and almost boring task. That is to build one block at a time.
So that is what I did. Each block adds another S$50 a month to my passive cashflow. I have repeated it more than fifty times over the past two to three years, and I am still going. Fifty blocks at S$50 is S$2,500 a month. Roughly S$30,000 a year.
This approach towards building passive income has bought me a little more freedom, and a little more calm. The lesson was never really about dividends. It was about simplifying the goal until it became a game I could keep playing.
This is my personal approach, shared from experience, not financial advice.
So how could you simplify your own goal until it becomes a game you can keep playing?
